General Fund. As a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Center for Desert Archaeology relies upon the generosity of its members and donors in order to continue its work of preservation archaeology. Membership dues and annual gifts are unrestricted, and go to our General Fund, the lifeblood of this organization. These crucial gifts are used to meet necessary operating expenses, including essential items such as rent, utilities, and salaries.
Preservation Fund. Donations to the Preservation Fund may be used to purchase threatened sites, negotiate and monitor conservation easements, and pursue other cultural resource preservation methods, as appropriate.
Publications Fund. Donations to this fund help the Center continue to publish Archaeology Southwest at the high level of quality its members and subscribers have come to expect. This fund also provides money for new publications in the Archaeology Library and Anthropological Papers series.
Research Fund. Gifts to the Research Fund provide critically needed funds to pursue research within a preservation archaeology framework. Large-scale surveys, limited excavations, detailed site and regional mapping, and the further study of existing collections are some types of research that are supported with donations to this fund. This fund also supports the Center's Doctoral Preservation Fellowship program.
Endowment Fund. Gifts to the Endowment Fund play a key role in insuring the long-term security and success of the Center. Earnings on the endowment are unrestricted. They can be used to pay general operating costs or any other expenses that arise. Donors considering making a bequest or other planned gift to the Center are encouraged to direct their gifts to the Endowment Fund.
